At Goldcar Palma de Mallorca Airport I was subjected to misleading and aggressive sales practices. I had already prepaid my rental through CarJet and had also purchased additional premium insurance during the booking process. Nevertheless, at the Goldcar desk I was told that I could only receive the vehicle if I purchased Goldcar’s own expensive insurance package.
Goldcar stated that my credit card was not acceptable because it did not display my full first name, only initials. This specific requirement was never clearly communicated during the booking process.I offered alternative solutions, including immediate payment of the deposit by debit card or bank transfer. These options were refused.
Under significant pressure and after calling CarJet, I felt forced to purchase Goldcar’s insurance in order to receive the vehicle. This resulted in unexpected additional charges of EUR 376.61.
The atmosphere at the rental desk was chaotic, with many other customers experiencing similar problems and long waiting times. After researching online, I discovered thousands of similar complaints describing the same practices at Goldcar locations.
I believe these practices are misleading, unfair and intentionally designed to pressure customers into paying excessive additional costs after arrival. I therefore request reimbursement of the additional charges and a serious investigation into the conduct of this rental location.
