BodyPlex Excessive heat in gym

My wife has a membership with the Bodyplex in Winder, GA. She has stated that the temperature in the gym (especially upstairs) has been in the mid 70’s with no AC or fans running. She has complained a few times but no changes. I am concerned about her and others having heat related emergencies because of an owner that is either too cheap to do anything or...

BodyPlex Stealing money

Almost a year after filling out the cancellation form (2021), I noticed that they continued to debit my account for my wife's gym fees and mine. I cancelled my wife's contract months before mine. They also were debiting gym enhancement fees/dues all to the tune of approximately $900.00 dollars. I contacted the gym, multiple times and Stephanie was always too busy to talk to me. I asked her to write a check and she smirked as she walked away. I talked to Shane on the phone, and he indicated that he would talk to her and get it straightened out. They have never called me back or reached out in anyway. Watch your bank account. The girl who used to work there would charge your account if you didn't put your weights away. Complete scam! BTW, I always put my weights away. As for gym enhancements, I was told the $85 went to sanitizer and hand towels. I never saw any new equipment, and a lot of the time the Crossfit room was locked and unavailable for use. I also contacted Bodyplex CEO who said he would reach out to Shane. An email later basically said he just franchises the name that I needed to reach out to the billing company. This is a fraud!

Desired outcome: Immediate refund

BodyPlex Money debited from my checking account without my permission

Money was taken out of my checking account by bodyplex blueridge. I have no permission for this. When I went in to ask about it the girl Destiny was very rude and closed my membership. We are on Silver Sneakers and didn't mind the extra fee but just did not want them to have access to my checking account after they got information off of a check that I paid with and debited my checking account . I was there to pay the fee with cash or check but she refused to accept it and closed our membership.

Money keeps being taken out of my account for a membership I originally said I only wanted for one month, back in december 2019. I bought the membership for one month as a christmas gift to a family member, he only went that one month, but bodyplex has continued taking $30 a month even after calling multiple times and telling them I dont want the membership...

My name is Candace Ruff. I am submitting a request about the paid membership fees that I paid on the behalf of my son, Shamar Sneed on March 5, 2020. At the time of purchasing the membership, everything was fully functioning, but the gym has been closed due to the coronavirus. I am requesting a refund for this month and wish to have his membership cancelled ongoing until this issue is resolved.

BodyPlex stealing money out of my bank

I recently, October 1, moved from Woodstock Georgia where I had a membership paying $19.99 a month, when I was getting ready to move I was told by then manage Garrett that he would let me out of my contract with the Woodstock location if I signed up with another Bodyplex. I found a BodyPlex in Alpharetta Georgia managed by Branigan Mincey who set up my membership and charged me the first months dues $19.99 which I agreed to. In the meantime BodyPlex Woodstock took another months dues out of my bank account which they said they would not do. Branigan at the Alpharetta location agreed to refund the money for his club, which eventually he did. Then on November 13 the Woodstock location took another months dues out of my account, I have called the alleged CEO Christine at least a dozen times with no response. Then today November 17 Bodyplex Alpharetta took another $19.99 out of my account. I don't know whether to call my lawyer or the police. This is outright stealing.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ANY BODYPLEX!

BodyPlex Charge Dispute

Bodyplex Oakwood and Bodyplex of Gainesville is owned by one of the most unorganized and unprofessional person I have ever had to deal with. She owns the Gainesville and Oakwood Bodyplex location. I encountered and didn't get any help from her. I cancelled a contract on 12/12, but when it was time to bill for the enhancement fee, I was billed out of no where (7 months later). When I called to question this I was told the "new" contract was recurring. If that was the case I would have been billed seven months prior and so on. She hides behind her employees and never returns phone calls or complaints. Once a bill is turned over to ABC even at no fault of your own her attitude is it's your problem. I have tried for months to get the owner on the phone. My question is how many people has she done this to? I am sure a lot of people would/have just paid it in order to avoid a mark on their credit report. I had to get ABC on the phone (3rd party company) to speak with her regarding the account. If this was a "recurring" contract then there would have been a payment taken out in Jan-July, but there wasn't and a valid card WAS ON file until June for an unrelated reason. (can prove that a card was valid until June) The owner would not speak to me or Lisa regarding this account. I am wondering how many people have been victim to this shady and unethical way of handling business. How many members have cancelled and then been charged the annual "enhancement" fee after the contract had been cancelled? ABC is a fast moving collection company, so how many people just paid it to avoid a mark on their credit report and stopped fighting it?

BodyPlex DO NOT EVER EVER JOIN THIS GYM

Joining Bodyplex has got to be one of my worst decisions. I am 18 years old and decided to join a Bodyplex just for ONE MONTH because I needed to get in shape a little bit for an event I was attending. When I went to sign up for a month two men helped me out. They told me one month would be 40 something dollars and that I HAD to get a personal trainer and DIDNT give me an option to opt out of the trainer so it ended up costing me $60. I only saw my trainer once. Within that month I only went to work out FOUR times because every time I went I felt very uncomfortable. The staff literally just sits there and judges you the whole time. Once my month was up I stopped going because there was no need for me too and I discovered id rather just work out on my own at home. Later on Bodyplex started calling me once a day, everyday during school hours so of course im unable to answer. Then they stopped for awhile. Now recently they started calling literally TEN times a day, once again while I was in school. They left very rude voicemails about how I needed to answer their calls and such. Finally I was able to answer and they claim I was signed up for a six month contract. Which is weird because I told the men that signed me up that I only needed a month...And it doesn't even make sense that I would agree to a six month contact seeing I will be moving away to college this summer. So now they claim I owe them about $250 dollars and they were so RUDE to me on the phone that I was in tears. They are RUDE, MONEY HUNGRY, and you should NEVER sign up there! There are SOOO many other gyms! I moved to Workout Now which is $25 for one month. ONE MONTH. and it has really nice free tanning beds!

BodyPlex customer service

I have a 'Silver Sneakers' membership, for those who don't know, this is for us old people that our insurance pays for considering it preventative. I went by around 7pm and told the girl I just wanted to sign up and asked when the least busy time was so that I may come back then to have someone show me around, she was very courteous as she answered my question. When I arrived at the designated time there were two girls behind the counter. I scanned my card and told the girl closest to me that I was not familiar with the facility or the equipment. She glanced at the computer and said, 'You're in the system go on in.' I said you don't understand, I don't know what machine does what or even where the bathroom is. She exasperatedly told me if I expected a personal trainer I would have to pay for one. I was shocked! I know it showed on my face because she squared her shoulders to me and dropped her jaw in a mocking gesture and just as I was about to tell her what I thought of her and that gym she jerked her head toward the other girl and told her to show me around. I went with the other girl thinking I would surely let the manager know how I was treated but to my total dismay before I left I was informed the little snot I was talking to was the OWNER. So far this is the only place I've found to lodge a complaint. I'm hoping my insurance company will let me change gyms.

I'm sorry to hear this persons opinion but I am not suprised. I think people don't always pay attention to how they speak to others. This lady was rude from the begining. I actually almost asked her to leave. Maybe she had a bad day, Im not sure. She asked if someone could show her how to workout and I told her that we could help her learn and adjust the machines but if she needed help to workout she would have to talk to a trainer. I guess this upset her even more. Again, not sure why. I don't recall squaring off to anyone but I'm pretty sure my face was showing my amusement because no one comes in acting like this lady. I have never had anyone talk to me or my staff like this. Again maybe she wasn't aware of how she was speaking to us. She seems to currently be haveing a nice time at our gym and is nice to the staff. I'm sure if she it to see me I will get the cold shoulder but that doesn't bother me as long as my staff gets treated nicely.

Sincerely,
The Little Snot ;)

BodyPlex Health issues

I was a member of the Bodyplex Grayson at Moon Rd and 20 for a couple of years, coming in the morning early enough not many people get in there before me. I began noticing issues with the cleaning services, like members blowing their nose with tissues they stuffed inside the cup holders and left when they were done and they stayed there for two weeks. Small pieces of paper on the floors that stayed there for weeks. Grayson Bodyplex does not vacuum every day, they don't clean the machines everyday and they really need to. I saw guys wearing tiny body shirts, working out with the weights, sweating like pigs, on the floors, on the benches, on the weights, everywhere they walked, it looked like it rained, and no one seemed to care, as I was disgusted. I did not want to lay down in someone else's DNA to work out. Maybe its just me, but that is revolting to me. When I complained at the front desk, they said he was in training and a regular at the gym. Was that suppose to make it all right for him to work out, drip his sweat all over the gym, up the stairs to the work out machines, all over the work out machines, back down the stairs, to the weight benches...This was one guy. There were many others too. All they had to do was wear clothes to catch there sweat and carry a large towel to wipe there brow. Instead, they shake their heads like a wet dog and splatter sweat five feet in all directions. I found myself trying to use my towel to wipe up his DNA and realized I was tying to use my towel for myself and could not because it was covered with his sweat. This was before 6AM in the morning daily, by closing, that gym would have to be steamed cleaned daily to clean it to my standards and they did not even vacuum weekly.

I think the Dept of Health needs to go in there a few times and all the other BodyPlex gyms also, unannounced and take some samples off the floor, the machines, the benches, and everyone except me would be surprised at what they find. If they don't clean Grayson, I doubt if they have different cleaning services at the other locations, they will all be about the same, filthy.

I agree about the cleanliness issues, I have seen many guys at the gym perspiring all over the equipment, floor, stairs, tred mills, and they don't wear suitable clothing to catch the sweat or carry towels to clean up after themselves, Lynn

I tried to cancel my membership, and they told me I could not cancel at the gym, I had to cancel through corporate, then I sent letters to corporate and Bodyplex kept billing my card for another three months. I called and cancelled the credit card to stop the unauthorized billing and they started calling me 10 times a day wanting a new credit card, I asked them how to cancel and they said they could not cancel me over the phone. I stopped taking their calls. They are still billing months later, I faxed letters to corporate, the billing company, trying to cancel and no one at Bodyplex helps cancel, they only want more money, so I know where this guy is coming from, Gina.

All of the BodyPlex fitness facilities are individually owned. The cleaning crew is up the owner and or management. You will find that some of the BodyPlex gyms have a towel service for this purpose. So no one has to sit on anyone elses sweat.

I talked the manager there trying to cancel a membership, and all they want is more money, the customer doesn't exist, its all about the money there in Grayson, they said as long as I owed money, even if I had not used the gym in six months, I could not cancel my membership until my bill for services not used was brought current. I asked about a service I paid a year in advance for, a computer training service, and they would not cancel that either and put toward bringing my account down, money, Bodyplex Fitness Center, 2445 Moon Road, Grayson, GA 30017 is all about the money, and the customer be damned.

BodyPlex Overcharged & cheated

Please do not sign up and give them credit card information. They will continue to charge the credit card even after you give them a written notice to cancel. They will charge you long after the 30-day notice is over. The gym is really not very nice with the equipment not always in working order. And the car lot next door uses the parking lot so there is usually no place to park. They are really only interested in how many more months worth of payments they can get out of you. Please look around as I'm sure there are reputable fitness centers out there.

I joined the Bodyplex in Dawsonville, GA a few years ago when they first opened. I agreed to go ahead and pay $300 for a one year contract. That was after some negotiating. The man told me I would get an orientation session and that I had 7 days in which to call them to cancel the contract. Well, within 2 days I had an upper respiratory infection and couldn't work out. I actually went up to the location to process the cancellation within the 7 days. I had put the $300 on a credit card. They told me that it would be taken care of. Yeah, right. I called numerous times trying to get in touch with the guy I had originally talked with. I finally got in touch with him (this was in May after I had originally signed up in December or January). He said he would take care of it. Well, when another 2 months went by, I contacted the credit card issuer and told them what was going on. They filed a fraud claim and gave me my $300 back. Of course, if Bodyplex had denied the claim, the bank would have taken the funds back. Apparently, they never did because the bank never took it back. I noticed a while back that the Dawsonville location has been closed for some time. I would never join another Bodyplex, even though I know one of their trainers in the Cumming location. There is a new place, Kinectix (or something like that) in the building now. I'm currently a member at JustFitness4U in Norcross/Roswell area, and I like it, other than the pressure to sign up for another personal training contract. But my husband wants me to find a gym closer to home so that we can both join, so I'm going to check out the new place after my Just Fitness contract is up, as well as Anytime Fitness (where I once had a membership). Failing all that, by God, we'll buy some equipment to put in our basement.

These people are crooks - I'm on the phone with my credit company right now - the Buford store signed my minor daughter up with an account and is charging my credit card without my approval - for 4 months they're double charging my account - I'm thinking of filing with my attorney and small claims court over this one - its illegal to enter a contract with a minor and even more illegal to charge someone elses credit card - DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE - I have been treated with disrespect and rudeness and hung up on by the manager of this location - they lied and said they resolved issues that are not resolved and they are breaking the law.

Reviews are how customers share expierences, its what helps your business grow, IF you are running a customer based business. You should want your customers to review your business because after all, if your doing it correctly you will have nothing to worry about!

This is the worst gym/business i have ever been in in my entire life, all of the employees are on drugs, the owner talks to you with no respect and sometimes you make him mad enough he just might call the police on you which has actually happend! I have inside detail that could crush this company all i need to say is they are shady people! Im sorry you guys have fallen into there trap i really hope you can get out of their contracts before you pay a ton of money for a [censor] gym!

This gym is the WORST in the county! Like so many big gyms, this one is a total con. Their equipment is varied, but they have WAY too much of some things, like treadmills, and not nearly enough of others, like weight machines. Most of the gym's equipment is cardio. They only have about two of the same kinds of weight machines there, and if two people are using them, well, then you're screwed. Their bathrooms and showers are so filthy, I can't imagine who'd ever use them. Even their water fountains stink of sweat. It's disgusting, but to the cleaning staff's credit, it's not their fault. The men and women there just don't care about keeping a towel handy, so expect seats and floors to have dripping sweat on them and the whole place to smell because of the low air circulation. The few classes they offer seem to be okay... if you're a veteran of them and in the "clique". They don't take kindly to new people signing up for them. It's a closely knit circle of soccer moms and high school students there and while anyone is open to join in, the instructors have a close relationship with most of the people already there. So much so that trying to gain their attention as a newbie is quite difficult.

The WORST thing about BodyPlex though, is the staff. They are the most uncaring, unhelpful gym trainers and staff imaginable. They only see their customers as suckers who have way too much money to waste. And yet, sadly, most of the people at this gym are suckers who have too much disposable income. About 90% of the members there are successful women with rich husbands (which makes sense given the location) and they're there before work in the morning and after work in the evening. They spend money on all the overpriced garbage that BodyPlex sell, and the staff considers them to be perfect suckers.

But what's worse is how they treat the ones who aren't the "pretty people" who go there for a combined four hours every day. If someone isn't your standard gym fanatic and are just going there to get in shape because they are overweight (which are the bodies of 99% of the city of Grayson) then the staff will be so evil and cruel to them. Of course, up close, they'll pretend to be nice, but you can easily overhear them in their offices cracking jokes about "Shamu" and how disgusting they are. I mean, they should be given credit for trying to better their health, and yet, instead, they're made fun of! And this is a good three-quarters of the entire staff! Only a very few select handful there actually give a damn about people's health!

So in short, this is Grayson's biggest (and possibly only) over-priced Hollywood type gym, that suckers wealthy fools into crippling contracts and makes fun of them once they get there. Plus the place is always stinky and sticky. Avoid this gym altogether! It's ONLY upside is the convient location, which anyone can get to by car. If you have the kind of dough to waste on a BodyPlex gym, then I'd suggest you buy a Bow Flex and DVD's, instead. It couldn't possibly be any more expensive.

I went to BodyPlex in Grayson to inquire about joining, and was told by Adam that I could join on a month to month basis without obligation. Instead, I got contracted for 24 months, billable on a month to month basis. A month to month membership was exactly what I needed, since this membership was only temporary until I went back to college. Once enrolled in college, both me an my spouse would have access to the student gym facilities, which was explained to the gym representative. And he assured me that was fine, as he was in college too and he understood. HA!

Now that college is about to resume, I called BodyPlex to cancel the membership, and was told that the contract was binding for 24 months and could not be cancelled. I was instructed to call the ABC Financial, their billing office, but got the same response there. Neither the BodyPlex general manager, nor the billing company, could provide the contact information for BodyPlex corporate headquarters. That information is also not posted on their web site.

The terms of the contract were misrepresented to me by their representative and therefore the contract should be null and void. The company should release me from the contract and any financial obligation contained therein, which would cause a financial burden for me. After this happened, I research on complaints file for BodyPlex and find out that what happened to me, has happened worst to other people all over. It is sad to see that the money of honest people have to support business like BodyPlex. I am thankful to be able to post my complaint, for it is all I can do.

I am a full time student, I do not work, and for the next two years it will be a financial burden to pay BodyPlex a fee they manage to secure unethically. I am obligated to pay a total of 1, 311.00. I also have perfect credit and if I do not pay, they will ruin my score. I imagine they count on that to make sure they secure their money.

I can write a book on the management skills or there lack of at BodyPlex Grayson. Not to mention how they treat the employees. The ONLY things that management "Had on me" was being late in the morings. In My Defense I HATED getting out of bed knowing that I was going to work another day FOR them. I LOVE My Customers, (still get to see some of them outside work, I go to church with some, funny how they see & appreciate my strong work ethics) and co-workers and as far as my duties..

No Biggie... I was working there and did it with pride. It was the CONSTANT harassement I had to endure from a female manager that felt the need to ride me damn near, throughout the day, EVERYDAY and make it clear that she HAD the TITLE to ride me. It was clear that she had this "Had To Make Clear She Was Superior To Make Her Feel Better". Never once did I let it affect my work performance EVEN Though I was ONLY Making Min. Wage. It was My Customers that made me through the day. UNTIL I Just couldn't anymore and decided to put in my notice. What makes it worst is that I DID bring this to the owners attention and NOTHING was Done... I ALSO brought it to the other owners and "He was not sure what we can do, but we will talk to her about it". Really, in "her" defense, what COULD she do? This place was SO Political ... Another instance, I was made fun of by BOTH this harassing manager of mine & her boss when I ASKED them a 5th time about my remibersement over an 8 dollar T-shirt I HAD to buy to wear as a uniform that was stolen from their office. NEVER did they Offer or EVEN pay me back after they made me feel like a fool for asking to be reimbursed. Now I KNOW it may sound like a miniscule 8 dollars.. but keep in mind that they ONLY paid me 7.25 an hour, that very 8 dollars, I worked HARD TO EARN.

Hey Guys, something's up with the BodyPlex in Grayson. The training company left over 5 months ago, some of the trainers left, all the managers are gone, and now all the salespeople are leaving. I talked to one of the salespeople today and she said the place was about to tank. Be careful when you sign, it sounds like they are about to take the money and run. I've only got two months left on my membership but I'll be prepared.

The gym smells like rat piss, can I please get a glade plug in somewhere. I'm a member cause I have to be, it's just too close to the house. If your a member in Suwanee, just wait til it rains-ur gonna love it, roofs leaks like a mutha. Paper towel holders haven't seen a paper towel in at least 2 weeks and if your in the last stall at the mens room, wait til someone opens the door, lock hasn't worked since the gym's been open. Oh yeah tanning bed just tans your face too.

Agree with you guys. I have tried just about every BodyPlex simply for the fact that I travel for work. None of them operate even remotely the same. I go to Grayson they charge me a travel fee, same in Suwanee, same in Buford. If it's all the same gym why do I pay a $15 travel fee for some locations. I figured with the high cost of the membership, there would at least be some perks. I switched to Fitness 19 down the street and I can go to any of there locations AND I only pay $7 dollars a month! I love people who love fitness. God Bless.

This place is GARBAGE. I'm being completely sincere when I write this, I wouldn't have taken my time to send off these reviews if I wasn't. Some major complaints; the staff is extremely rude, they are a rip off, their gym is NO GOOD and DIRTY. And I promise you that you will never feel comfortable working out here. Also when you sign the contract they...

BodyPlex Members rip-off!

I just went to work out at Bodyplex Athens, GA. I have been a member there for over 2 years. The first thing I find out is they have suddenly sold their business or run away from their business as the case may be. While standing at the desk with the unfriendly, defensive and uncoopoerative employees, who by the way seem as panicked and scared as the members, I overhear a member asking if they will still get their $19/month dues rate.

Sounds like no big deal right? Sounds like a great deal right? WRONG! Myself and all the other long time loyal members have been paying $35+ per month. So if you've been around they rip you off if you walk in the door for the first time they give you have price. Apparently this horrible strategy of running a business isn't working. The club is filthy, poorly run and the equipment is broken constantly. Now the owner is running for the hills and selling out. I asked to have my dues lowered to the current rates (I am month to month) they said they would if I signed a 3 year contract! Anyone signing a contract with this unstable, poorly run and apparently failing business is making a big mistake.

Candice at Body Plex is a horrible regional manager. My daughter has been going to Santa Barbara State Univ. for 2 years now. Candice is stating a mixed policy on membership. My daughter let them know she moved but apparently did not go through some long process. After checking my money market account occasionally - I see they continue to take money out. I have records of several calls back in 2103 from me and my daughter. I now had to close a money market acct. that I have had for years due to this rip off. Good luck trying to get my money now. I wish I had closed this acct. years ago. Hellllloooo Candice- if we say we don't live there and you see she has never been there - then it only seems fit to stop charging us and reimburse us the $480 you owe me. You seem to thrive on ripping of the parents of college kids. Who do you think pays for these dues? You should be ashamed of yourself. You now finally cancelled with a simple phone call stating she is now on a month to month yet you refused to cancel via a phone cal 2 years ago. How exactly were we suppose to even know this month to month policy you made up. Myself or daughter have never received anything from you and your company. My next step is to contact better business bureau. You will be hearing from them.
Hey people- there are plenty of clubs that treat their clients with respect and this is not one of them……stay AWAY

To whom it may concern,
I am sending payment requested, given the fact that I am sick and tired of the harassing calls and threatening letters to affect my credit. This payment, which originally was made in February 2014, has affected my daughter’s college semester payment thanks to the incompetence of your staff. I was a member for about 6-9 of months at BodyPlex Plaza Caparra 1498 Ave. Roosevelt, Suite 201 Guaynabo PR [protected].
My overall experience was a total disaster. I was unhappy with the amount of unsupervised kids running around. I witnessed children between the ages of 5-10 running through the weight room, being loud and disruptive. Also, the children’s room was ALWAYS unsupervised, which regarding insurance issues is something that should not be taken lightly if you are not interested in getting sued. This made my gym time unpleasant. I mentioned the situation to various staff members, however, nothing was done. I frequently saw these children running around between 5:30 - 7 pm. It was not only a nuisance for me, but I was concerned for their safety.
The bathrooms are appalling, always flooded because of the showers and no one taking care of member safety. One fall and that could be major damage to your gym.
My intentions of going to a gym are to help with stress as well as take care of my health. Having unruly kids running around was distracting to my exercise routine.
I chose this gym because of the location, all the classes offered and the price, but it seems your policy is that ANYONE can get in, also having bad experiences with men making crude sexual remarks to me or my daughter. Scheduling a PT is the worst dilemma ever, there is no time on their calendar and insisted I worked around their schedule, I work, what kind of disrespect is that, are you serious?
The staff is very disrespectful, specially your manager Ms. Carmen Díaz, which is never there, always on a break or out to lunch. I have gone by the gym taking time from my work schedule for her not to be there? Numerous times I have called to speak to her and she never calls back and the last two times I try to speak to her she left me on hold for thirty minutes and most recently last week she hung up on me.
Since I had already canceled my membership and had paid the penalty, to my amazement she kept debiting my bank account and never reimbursed the expenses even though I provided all the evidence requested of cancelation, but nobody would help always using the excuse “That they installed a new computer system and they don’t know how to work with looking up information or accounts”. In my opinion I suggest you hire people with more skills.
A lot of the equipment is out of order or obsolete, many times, two of the five treadmill machines had "Out of Order" signs posted or no sign at all. Since the other three were in use, I had to wait for a treadmill. I do understand that waiting is necessary sometimes, but if the machines were working I would not have had to wait. The treadmill machines every two days were out of order. In addition, several Elliptical machines are in need of desperate repair. They do not seem to offer as much resistance, and/or the screens are cracked or broken. I told staff members, who said they would look into it, but nothing was done.
My overall experience in this gym was a total nightmare. There are four other fitness centers right next to yours but by the persuasive, constant telephone harassment just because I asked for a tour and the annoying sales pitches given, which in fact were FALSE ADVERTISING, I FELT PRESSURED TO.
After 5 years as a club member at Zona Activa, which is right across the street from your gym I was faced with the situation of having to change Fitness Club, since Zona Activa closed on 2013.
I am sending this complaint letter to you in hopes you better supervise your facilities and to obtain full cancelation of my membership and refund on my money invested.
Do have in mind I will share all negative reviews (since no immediate action was taken regarding my complaints or requests) on any social media platform, as well as Consumer Reports and DACO (Department of Consumer Affairs in Puerto Rico) which protects consumers from companies which participate in fraud and false advertisements.
Since working in the Advertising and Public Relations Industry for over 20 years, I have learned that word to mouth is the most effective promotion a company can ever encounter. This type of advertising can make or break you.
Copy of cancelation, evidence of payment and bank statement will be provided upon request, given the fact that Ms. Diaz apparently misplaced, lost or threw them away given her nasty attitude making client relations/support a total disaster and I am not in the position to have someone loose the documentation again.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. Hope you look into these observations made for your own benefit as well as other members.
Regards,
Leslie A. Burden

To all Body Plex potential users. Realize when you sign your agreement and initial a few boxes that you just signed a life time contract. You have to go back to Body Plex and/or ABC Financial to terminate your contract. My year contract ran out and I continued to be billed on a monthy basis. In fact I was over billed on a monthly basis.

Athens West Complaint - It was my last day at the Bodyplex Athens West, and I was saying goodbye to the front desk people. I was never the type to stand up there and talk, maybe 4 or 5 minuets tops. On the last day, i stand up there longer, say 10 or 15 minutes. I'm leaving Athens for good. I had made some interesting acquaintances, and I like to converse. Candice, the manager comes rushing up to me saying, "You need to leave now." She repeated herself. Nothing else. No explaination. She didn't ask me to come in her office. Out in front of everyone, she did this most embarrassing act. I normally handle things diplomatically, but it happen so fast. I said, for what reason do you want me to leave. She repeated herself again. I said, "I will leave when I get ready." Yes, I know it didn't handle myself correctly.. I told her I was going to take a shower, then I would leave. The cops were waiting on me when I finished. They escorted me to my car. Before I open my car door, they asked could they search me. I said, "please do". They were looking for a camera. They asked did I ditch the camera in the gym. I laughed. "What are you talking about?" I said. The cops gave me there phone number and case number. I didn't get in trouble, but I was asked to leave the gym for 2 years. ha ha. Now, most people don't tell you the entire story, so let me say this. About 10 to 12 months prior, I did bring a camera in the bodyplex. I only took it to the front desk and filmed 2 girls that agreed to let me film them. I have a you tube channel, and I get random people to say the name of my channel. It takes all of 5 seconds. I normally use people off the street. This was the first time I thought I would get some nice looking girls to do the opener for me. they bothed agreed, and they knew what I was using it for. That was a one time deal

Joining Bodyplex has got to be one of my worst decisions. I am 18 years old and decided to try out Bodyplex for ONE MONTH because I needed to get in shape a little bit for an event I was attending. When I went to sign up for a month two men helped me out. They told me one month would be 40 something dollars and that I HAD to get a personal trainer and DIDN'T give me an option to opt out of the trainer so it ended up costing me $60 which I paid in cash, I never gave them my card. I only saw my trainer once. Within that month I only went to work out FOUR times because every time I went I felt very uncomfortable. The staff literally just sits there and judges you the whole time. Once my month was up I stopped going because I was lead to believe that if I wanted to stop after one month I could and they told me NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING about having to cancel my membership. Later on Bodyplex started calling me once a day, everyday during school hours so of course I'm unable to answer. Then they stopped for awhile. Now recently they started calling literally TEN times a day, once again while I was in school. They left very rude voice mails about how I needed to answer their calls and such. Finally I was able to answer and they claim I was signed up for a six month contract. Which is weird because I told the men that signed me up that I only needed a month...And it doesn't even make sense that I would agree to a six month contact seeing I will be moving away to college this summer. So now they claim I owe them money and they were so RUDE to me on the phone that I was in tears. They are RUDE, MONEY HUNGRY, and you should NEVER sign up there! There are SOOO many other gyms! I moved to Workout Now which is $25 a month and it has really nice free tanning beds! Bodyplex is a scam and will steal your money. I know people say read the contract but the employees went over the contract and read it with me in a way that made me believe I could stop going whenever. They took complete advantage of me.

This health club is ran by a predatory financial group by the name of ABC Financial. (http://www.abcfinancial.…) Their priorities according to their website: "Maximize revenue, make club management easier and ensure member satisfaction."

They would be better off scratching number three off that list because it's quite obvious they don't care at all about customers. It's all about the money.

I signed up for this gym in February and decided to do a month-to-month option. After a ridiculous $99 sign-up fee, I signed an electronic signature pad and started shelling out my $39.90 a month. They were also kind enough to let me know that I would be hit with a $20 "facility improvement fee" a month or so into my membership. What they failed to tell me was that I would be required to send in a written request to cancel my membership with 30 days notice. I sent one email to their member services department, but never received a response, so I mistakenly assumed that my membership was cancelled.
NOPE!
I get a call later saying that my payment wouldn't process (I had changed banks). They took the liberty of charging me a $20 late fee / service charge for my payment not working and proceeded to tell me that even if I cancelled on the day the payment posted I would still be liable for the next payment.

Here's a timeline:
May 1st - Visited gym for the last time before moving out of town.

May 5th - Sent first cancellation email (it was "probably incorrectly formatted" according to their terribly unhelpful customer service phone line.)

June 22nd - Received phone call telling me I was being charged a late fee and that my payment wouldn't process. Sent second cancellation email and called to verify it was indeed cancelled. I was also told that my late fee would be reversed because I was "such a good customer". (It wasn't reversed.)

July 20th - Date of my next payment amount of $39.90.

August 19th - Contractually, I am a member of this godawful place until this date.

I must also work out at a different bodyplex in grayson, yes it appears to be all younger people working there and I am sure at some point there is some joking around with one another staff members but I have nothing but great things to say. I have only been a member for a short time but made two trips prior and used the gym for one week each time. so maybe the people who complaints about the Grayson location being messy or what have you might be the issue.

Body plex in Athens on alps is a total rip off. Frauds to the heart. They tried to take money out my account so the bank change my whole account due to that and said it was fraud. The people are unprofessional and not friendly. Please research before joining, all my friends are canceling their contract. Horrible place.
